Capoeira Cordão de Ouro (CDO) Hawaii

Welcome!  CDO Hawaii is a non-profit organization dedicated to increase the cultural awareness and education in Hawaii through Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian art form which blends martial arts, dance, acrobatics and music.  Capoeira was developed by African slaves in Brazil during the colonial era.  Today, it is being practiced all around  the world from South America to Europe, Asia, North America, and of course, Hawaii.

Capoeira does not rely on physical strength and is very playful, so people of all ages can train and play together. Not only does it improve your fitness, flexibility, reflexes and coordination, but also improves your musicality and overall energy.

You can check out our weekly Capoeira classes for kids and adults.  If you would like to see live Capoeira game in action, come to our street game on every First Friday in Chinatown!

We also practice other Afro-Brazilian arts such as Maculele, Samba Bateria, Dança Guerreiro and much more.

Join our growing Capoeira community and let’s play!

I love how I get to meet so many people around the world for Capoeira.

Capoeira has opened so many doors for me.
